Gender-disaggregated STEM indicators

At Movimiento STEM+ we start from a clear conviction: talent has no gender.

Yet reality shows that girls and women still face structural barriers that limit their access, retention, and growth in STEM fields.

Closing these gaps does not happen on its own. It requires tangible, intentional actions that not only expand opportunities but also ensure results.

In a collaborative effort, Movimiento STEM+ and IMCO drive the continuous monitoring of indicators on women's participation in STEM. Year after year we will generate indicators and update this key information with gender-disaggregated data.

Which careers count as STEM?

Based on the UNESCO ISCED-F 2013 classification and the OECD, the following fields are considered:

  • 05 · Natural sciences, mathematics and statistics
  • 06 · Information and communication technologies
  • 07 · Engineering, manufacturing and construction
