National Student Prize

Ángela Elena Olazarán Laureano

Winner · National Student Prize Mexico 2022 and Global Student Prize 2024.

Ángela Elena Olazarán Laureano is a Mexican graduate of CONALEP campus Manuel Maples Arce No. 244 in Papantla, Veracruz. In her school's Robotics and Programming Club she developed automated home-automation systems and robots. She enjoys taking part in donation drives to improve her community.

Her project “Ixtlilton”, a remotely-controlled AI-based medical assistant designed for rural populations during the COVID-19 pandemic, led her to be chosen as the winner of the National Student Prize organized by Movimiento STEM+.

She earned a double silver medal at the RoboRAVE World Championship 2023, the Ing. Bernardo Quintana Arrioja medal for Academic Excellence CONALEP 2023, and the Honorable Student Award at the Huawei Developer Competition LATAM 2023. She took part virtually in NASA's SEEC 2024 at Space Center Houston.

In 2024 she became the first woman in Latin America to win the Global Student Prize from Chegg.org and the Varkey Foundation. She recently earned an academic-excellence scholarship and studies Information Technologies and Digital Business engineering at Universidad Anáhuac de Xalapa.
