National Teacher Prize
María Diana Lorena Rubio Navarro
Winner · STEM Talent Award: National Teacher Prize Mexico 2020.
María Diana Lorena Rubio Navarro holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from UNAM's INB and a Master of Science (Neurobiology) from the same institution.
Her application was one of the highest-scoring among nearly 3,000 cases received, making her a state finalist and, for her educational project, a national finalist. Her vision of advancing STEM disciplines with a gender focus led the expert jury to select her as the winner of the first edition of the STEM Talent Award: National Teacher Prize Mexico.
She was invited in 2011 to teach Biology in upper-secondary education and, upon working with young people, realized it was an opportunity to shape her students' profiles and motivate them to be responsible citizens with life projects, dreams and commitments to improve the world.
She is convinced that every young person in Mexico should develop basic scientific skills to add value to the knowledge society and build their future with equity and sustainability.
She was named a Global Teacher Prize 2021 Top 10 finalist and is currently a speaker on character education and Neuroeducation.
